Derek Di Giulio

Director

Derek is the owner of A-Grade Earthworks and has successfully developed the company from a family-owned plant and labour hire company to a respected civil contractor.
Derek has an intimate understanding of the capabilities of all plant and equipment and strives to ensure client satisfaction is always front of mind. Derek is an expert plant operator and has unrivalled self-perform experience across all aspects of civil construction. Derek’s role is to ensure that industry best practices and methodologies are deployed, as well as ensuring that plant, equipment, and personnel of the highest calibre are made available to our projects.

Gary Murphy

Director

Gary Murphy is a degree-qualified project management specialist with over 15 years’ relevant industry experience. Gary has project managed numerous Western Australian projects including the
Ashton Avenue Bridge and Williams Bridge replacements for Main Roads Western Australia.
Gary is an expert in the implementation, management and continuous improvement of business  management systems and processes.
He is a proven expert in all aspects of project delivery and ensures that all projects are executed to the highest standard.

Allan MacPhee

Operations Manager

Allan studied at the University of Glasgow and graduated with a BSc in Earth Science and Geology Engineering. Before joining Samphire he worked in exploration with Mineral Resources in the Pilbara. Allan joined the team in early 2022 as an engineer to working on a Metronet project and brings a diverse wealth of experience to the Samphire team.  

Allan is currently studying a masters, undertaking his MBA with the Australian Institute of Management.

Barbara Palleros

Cost Engineer

Barbara is a Cost Engineer currently working within the Project Controls team in the Armadale Line Upgrade Alliance project in Perth.

Barbara joined Samphire with more than 9 years of experience in Construction, having experienced a variety of roles. Starting her career as a Building Design Engineer in Perth, she then moved to a Project Engineer role in roads construction in Argentina, later experiencing the FIFO work life in a project for SINO Iron-Ore in the WA Pilbara region as a Lead Engineer and most recently worked as a Quantity Surveyor in Dublin, Ireland.

Barbara holds a Civil Engineer Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Western Australia and a General MBA from Dublin Business School.

Jordan Lee

Project Engineer

Jordan is a highly experienced, degree-qualified project engineer who prides himself on the technical outcomes of projects under his management.
Jordan’s experience includes the Ashton Avenue Bridge Replacement and the Kwinana Waste to Energy project. Jordan’s technical knowledge of Australian Standards means that our project quality management systems are tailored to ensure projects are executed with transparency, integrity and in accordance with our values.
Jordan’s role is to manage all technical and engineering aspects of our projects and ensure that all projects are built according to your quality, time and cost expectations.

Jordan holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Infrastructure)(Hons) from RMIT, Melbourne.

Yasir Wazir

Senior Planner

Yasir is a civil engineer, planner, and a delay analyst with over 15 years of significant Project Management and Project Controls experience in EPC Contracts in multi-disciplinary sectors. Having experience in project planning, EOT preparation, delay analysis, risk management, proposal preparation and cost control techniques, Yasir has achieved successful results to the utmost satisfaction of clients.

Yasir has successfully supported project planning and cost controls for oil and gas, process, mining, industrial construction, infrastructure, and residential and commercial projects in Australia, Asia Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East.

Yasir Holds and bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and LLM in Construction Law from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen

Sohaib Jamshed

Cost Controller

Sohaib joined Samphire with over 8 years of experience in accounting and finance within the banking and construction industries. In construction, Sohaib worked on a range of projects, from residential buildings to large-scale commercial developments. His background in banking has provided him with a solid foundation in financial analysis and risk management. He is committed to staying up-to-date with industry standards and best practices, and continuously seeks out opportunities for professional development.

Sohaib holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with majors in Finance and a Master’s degree in Professional Accounting from Charles Sturt University, Sydney.”

Thiwanka Dissanayake

Civil Engineer

With over five years of experience in the construction industry, Thiwanka is a highly qualified and dedicated professional with a degree in Civil Engineering from Gujarat Technological University in India. He started his career in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he worked for Maga Engineering and Sierra Construction as a Site Engineer, gaining valuable experience in road construction, and water treatment plant construction.

In his current role, Thiwanka is responsible for overseeing construction on-site, ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with project plans, specifications, and regulations.

Thiwanka is currently pursuing a Master of Project Management at Curtin University. His extensive experience and knowledge of the construction industry make him a valuable member of the team.

Curtis Prior

Commercial

Curtis excels in people management, guiding teams to success with his outstanding leadership and project management skills. He has a proven track record of setting clear objectives, crafting comprehensive plans, and ensuring successful outcomes. Curtis is also dedicated to making a positive impact outside of work, actively participating in community development projects and collaborating with not-for-profit organisations.

As a business owner with expertise in people and project management, Curtis stands out as a valuable asset. His diverse experiences, including contributions to the PTA, business ownership, and six years in mining, showcase his commitment to meaningful change. Curtis, a certified electrician with a diploma in project management, is currently pursuing a double diploma in Leadership and Management, as well as Business. 

Muhammad Ahsan

Project Planner

Muhammad is a proficient engineer who has excelled as a production and maintenance engineer with more than 3 years of experience. During this time, he has showcased his expertise in optimizing production processes, ensuring seamless equipment functionality, and implementing effective maintenance protocols. His contributions have led to substantial improvements in production efficiency, minimized downtime, and elevated overall operational effectiveness.

Recently, Ahsan embraced a new challenge as a Project Planner at Samphire, illustrating his eagerness to diversify his skill set and take on broader responsibilities within the engineering domain. With a Master’s degree of Mechanical Engineering from the Engineering Institute of Technology, Perth and a Bachelor’s degree of mechanical engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology.
